Shmup / Platformer VELOCITY 2X Makes its Nintendo Debut This Month
Curve Digital is proud to announce that it’s bringing FuturLab’s critically acclaimed, multi award winning shmup and platformer hybrid Velocity®2X to Nintendo Switch on September 20th.
This will be the first time a Velocity title has appeared on a Nintendo platform. A direct successor to Velocity, Velocity®2X follows the story of Lt. Kai Tana, a brave pilot who has found herself stranded a long way from home after getting sucked through a black hole. Discovered and experimented on by an evil alien race called the Vokh, Kai Tana has recently escaped with her “Quarp Jet” and must outrun her captors.
Velocity®2X launched to rave reviews in 2014, where it debuted on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4, before launching on Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux the following year. Garnering a MetaCritic score of 90 on Vita and 86 on PlayStation 4, Velocity®2X won the hearts of critics and players alike, with its inventive blend of pulse-pounding 2D action platforming and fast-paced vertical-scrolling shmup action.
“This is the ultimate version of Velocity 2X,” said FuturLab Managing Director James Marsden. “On Nintendo Switch, players will get the complete, no-compromise home console/PC version with all the graphical bells and whistles, whether playing at home on their TV at 1080p and 60fps, or on the Switch screen at 720p and 60fps.”
“FuturLab have put a lot of effort into this release, we hope Nintendo players get as addicted to Velocity 2X as we are when it launches on September 20th,” said Cédrine Décoret, Product Manager.
Velocity 2X will be playable at EGX 2018, headlining Curve’s stand alongside the console multiplayer release of Human: Fall Flat. Also playable will be Manual Samuel, For The King, Carried Away, Bomber Crew, Smoke And Sacrifice and the all new multiplayer mode of WWII aerial combat shooter Rogue Aces. Curve Digital are looking forward to greeting players at the event from September 20th - 23rd.
