Unearthing Mars 2 shows that Winking Entertainment delivers great visual detail. From character model to the environment, the team behind the production took their time to fix-up many details. “Unearthing Mars 2 took the time to smooth out many visuals. One of the biggest challenge we face was to produce a great FPS level visual, and to deliver it onto the PSVR platform without settle for less than we wanted,” stated Hankson, director at Winking Entertainment. “The boss Black Sword was tricky to produce. We remodel him countlessly, trying to persuade a bossy aura about him, without making Black Sword too intimidating, superhuman”
From the beginning, the game incorporates the tutorial into its story line. Unearthing Mars 2 gives players just enough upgrade after each chapter, so players don’t feel overwhelmed. After some basic mechanisms introduced, Unearthing Mars 2 provides players a brand new mechanism, Focus. This is where the game starts to get really interesting.
Focus enables players to slow down time for 2 seconds. In those 2 seconds, enemy weak spot is exposed. Players can use this function as they please. The gameplay differs greatly with different tactics. Players can enjoy the sci-fi ninja-like feeling when using the Focus skill, or use the Focus skill to slow down time, ready for another round of blasting of plasma gun. Do approach this with caution.
“We not only want our players to enjoy a smooth gameplay, but also a great story to enjoy,” said Azoth Teng, Co-producer of Unearthing Mars 2. With that being said, take your time to play the game. Enjoy each chapter of the play through. Winking Entertainment is working on a full story release of Unearthing Mars 2, so players who are not familiar with its backstory can understand the game a little better.
