Polyphonic LP’s award-winning musical puzzle game Resynth will launch for PC and Mac for US$5.99 on Steam on 17 October 2018. Early birds get 15% off during launch week.
Sokoban meets the step sequencer in Resynth. Part puzzle game, part musical instrument and part mixing desk. Glide across a minimalist neon grid, solving abstract puzzles to restore the grooves. Each piece of the puzzle is an element in the mix – drum, bass, and synth – coming together to form a complete and immersive soundscape.
“As both musicians and gamedevs, we wanted Resynth to sound great as well as look cool and engage players,” said Andy Trevillian, co-founder of indie gamedev company, Polyphonic LP.
Sam Izzo, the other half of Polyphonic LP, said it was important that the puzzle design didn’t undercut the tunes. “I’m a jazz pianist,” he said. “Music is a big part of my life, so I was never going to be satisfied with tracks that were just ‘okay’.”

The two veteran gamedevs met in the mid-2000s while working on Wii third-party classic de Blob for THQ’s now defunct Blue Tongue Entertainment. Sam was the lead tools engineer. Andy was the lead level designer. After Blue Tongue closed their friendship became a professional partnership when they formed Polyphonic LP in 2016, secured funding from Film Victoria and launched Resynth for iOS in July 2017. The DNA of de Blob, a game about bringing music and color back to a monochrome world, lives on in Resynth.
“It was always the plan to release to Steam though,” Sam said. “We wanted to take the time to craft a desktop-specific experience and build a level editor that gives players the chance to create their own tricky puzzles and craft sweet loops with our big beats and analogue synths.”
What it feels like to play Resynth on PC or MAC:

- NEW to PC and MAC – use the level editor to create your own puzzles and tracks
- NEW to PC and MAC – earn Steam achievements by mastering the step and loop timers
